Gary C. Muehlhausen, age 75, of Baxter, MN died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home in Baxter. He was born on February 10, 1943 in Lincoln, NE to Charles Muehlhausen and Wilma (Sovereign) Muehlhausen.
Gary was a good man and a friend to everyone he met. He dedicated his life to both working with and improving the lives of people with disabilities. Gary devoted his “spare” time to improving the city in which he lived -- serving first on the Baxter City Council and then as the Mayor of Baxter. He was a champion of underdogs, a loyal and considerate friend, a dedicated public servant, a conscientious patriot, a generous and kind man, and most of all he knew how to have fun and enjoy life. Everyone liked Gary.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie Muehlhausen (husband, Kell Cannon) and Amanda Muehlhausen (husband, Derrick Fernando); grandchildren Vivienne Fernando and Signe Fernando; siblings, Bonnie (Muehlhausen) Davis, Glen Muehlhausen, and Ray Muehlhausen, ex-wives, stepchildren and step-grandchildren, a niece, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends – young and old.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Karen (Tyrrell) Muehlhausen; and parents, Charles and Wilma Muehlhausen.
Gary’s wish was for his friends and family to celebrate his life. Please join us on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Arrowwood Lodge, 6967 Lake Forest Rd, Baxter, MN 56425 from 5:00-8:00pm.
